The project-based voucher program allows HRAs that already administer the Housing Choice Voucher Program to take up to 20 percent of its authorized units and attach the funding to specific units rather than using it for tenant-based assistance.
The HRA currently has project-based vouchers units at the following properties:
- Westwood Village Apartments One
- Swisshelm Village Apartments One
- Swisshelm Village Apartments Two
Much of the Housing Choice Voucher Program regulations also apply to the project-based voucher program.
The HRA will pay a monthly housing assistance payment (HAP) for a family while the family resides in the project-based voucher unit. If a family vacates the project-based voucher unit after the first year of occupancy in accordance with their lease and project-based voucher program regulations and policies, the HRA will give the family priority to receive the next available opportunity for continued assistance under the Housing Choice Voucher Program
If the family terminates the assisted lease before the end of the first year, the family relinquishes the opportunity for continued tenant-based assistance.
