CommUNITY & Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Rental Assistance
CommUNITY Rental Assistance is funded by the CommUNITY Adult Mental Health Initiative. The program helps households with very low incomes and a severe persistent mental illness while they wait for a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) or another rental subsidy. A housing subsidy is paid to the landlord directly by the HRA on behalf of the household. The household then pays the difference between the actual rent charged by the landlord and the amount subsidized by the program.
The program is designed to provide the services needed to help individuals move into permanent housing. The HRA partners with the CommUNITY Adult Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI) who provides these services.
